Miss Holly
Holly, a six month old poodle maltese cross was handed in to the
pound when she had a wee on the carpet one too many times.
She was a bright girl who was quick to learn – and she had had a
lot to learn. It seems Holly was never taught any manners
and has had to learn from scratch to sit, come when called, wait
when told, walk on a lead and how to play. She developed
skills very quickly as she is keen to please. Like many
rescues she was not very familiar with being cuddled or picked
up but enjoyed this very much.

Mitchell
Mitchell is a very pretty maltese about two years of age when
rescued. When he was collected from the pound, he was
suffering from so many problems that he was in great pain.
He had to be shaved to the skin to remove multiple mats in his
hair and the red rashes over his body from the many fleas were
obvious. He was cleaned up and put into a warm jumper but
still had some difficulty keeping warm. He underwent
surgery for desexing and at the same time had an umbilical
hernia repaired, 11 rotten teeth removed and the remaining teeth
cleaned. After recovering from the procedures, he became
much more gentle enjoying interaction with people and clearly
much happier.

Buddy
This very small two year old Maltese cross was in a bad way when
rescued. His matted hair had to be completely removed to
assist his start at a new life. Overcoming a serious bout
of kennel cough he recovered strongly and made up for lost time.
He enjoys a play, loves a hug, and cuddles given any
opportunity. He is very affectionate, loving, adorable and
bonded very quickly with his foster family, including other
dogs, cats, and all family members.

Chiyo
We don’t really know what sort of dog Chiyo is. He has a
very long body and gentle nature. He has funny shaped
crooked legs which led to his name in honour of a famous sumo
wrestler – though his new family think of him more as a wombat!
Chiyo’s first instinct is to figure out what you want him to do
so he can do the right thing. He is quite calm and
tolerant of other dogs and his environment. He wasn’t very
comfortable with being picked up or cuddled at first but quickly
learned to seek this out for himself. He was re-homed with
a family which already had a somewhat neurotic schnauzer, and
Chiyo quickly became his buddy, following him around like a
shadow.

Tyson
This little bundle of fun was a timid and unsure dog when he
first arrived. As he developed confidence he learned new
play skills and happily interacts with both people and other
dogs. He loves to eat, and despite his tiny body, he will
jump onto a table to access food if it is left unattended.
His short legs combined with his golden maltese breed made him a
cute little package to join a new family.

Leo
Leo, a skinny white toy poodle about 4 or 5 years of age was
rescued from the NSW Animal Welfare League in
Sydney
by a kind
Canberra
family. Shortly after his arrival, it became clear that Leo was
unwell and after extensive testing he was discovered to have
epilepsy. Unfortunately, the family were unable to keep Leo and
he came to Oodles of Poodles. He is a loyal little character and
thrives in the company of his carer though he certainly enjoys
his canine companions as well. He loves a walk (and is great off
lead) but copes best with cooler temperatures.

|
Jackson
Jackson was rescued from the pound on Valentine’s Day.
He had a congenital eye problem which meant we had to remove his
eye but he coped marvellously and has now settled in to his new
home where he plays with Brocky, also rescued from us.
|
|
|
Tiger
Tiger is a maltese who is much gentler than his name
suggests. He has
adapted well to his new family where he has another maltese
companion and children to play with.
|
|
|
Sam
Sam was an older mini poodle looking for a home when
his owner died. He
remained in limbo for some time and his foster carer eventually
decided he couldn’t part with Sam.
Sam enjoyed his twilight years with gentle walks and lots
of love and attention. Very sadly, Sam died
in August 2004 after a short bout of pneumonia and will be sadly
missed. He was about 15.
|
|
|
Zach
Zach was a young poodle puppy who developed destructive
tendencies and high anxiety when he was left on his own all day
while his owner worked.
Zach’s owner decided to offer Zach a better life and he now
lives with a retired person and one other poodle.
|
|
|
Maddie
Maddie was a black poodle cross rescued from a family
where he spent most of his time chasing the rabbits. We soon discovered Zach could jump very high and his levels
of energy were surprising.
He has been rehomed with an energetic family where he
receives lots of exercise and attention.
|
|
|
Angel
Angel is the only bichon we have ever rescued to date.
He was saved from the pound and rehomed to live with
another family who already had a bichon.
|
|
|
Nicholas
Nicholas, a toy poodle, was
entrusted to us for rehoming by a family who could no longer
keep him.
Unfortunately he escaped from his foster carer and was killed by
a car.
New processes are in place when selecting and using
foster carers to ensure this never happens again.
|
|
|
Coco
Coco, the only chocolate female poodle we have ever
rescued was a wild child.
She had energy to burn and was too much for her foster carers.
She was rehomed with a family who already had an equally
active poodle and they keep each other entertained.
|

|
|
Tailo
Tailo, a maltese cross was so hysterical when first
rescued from the pound that we were inclined to call him
Hysterio. He
eventually calmed down and is now a loved playmate to three
boys.
|
|
|
Suzy
Suzy, a toy poodle was rescued from a home where she
was sleeping on the steps in the rain.
She had skin problems and took some time before she
developed into a sweet and gentle girl.
She has been rehomed to a small town where she is the
talk of everybody who meets her on her three daily walks.
|
|
|
Missy
Missy was malnourished maltese cross who we thought was
pregnant when we rescued her from the pound. She soon recovered her health and stole the heart of her new
family where she receives large amounts of cuddles and love.
|
|
|
Mysty
Mysty was a tiny silky terrier cross who was being
tormented by the children where she lived.
She was rehomed with an older person who dotes on her.
|
|
|
Monty
Monty, a mini poodle was rescued from the pound and
fostered for some time before being rehomed with a retired
couple. He still
hates the cat but loves his two huge daily walks and the games
and plays he has the rest of the time.
|
|
|
Cosie
Cosie was handed in to the pound with a note that said,
“Please find a good home for Cosie”.
He has been rehomed and now eats rump steak daily and is
the play and cuddle king.
|
|
|
Tommy
Tommy the maltese cross was rescued from the pound and
rehomed with a retired lady in a retirement village where he
enjoys visiting all the residents and romping round the grounds.
|
|
|
Beau
Beau the mini poodle was rehomed by his family who felt
that it was unfair to leave him at home all day on his own where
he was bored and getting up to mischief.
He now lives with someone who works from home and is in
seventh heaven.
|
|
|
George
George, a toy poodle drove us all crazy when he first
arrived. He also
had developed some neurotic tendencies living at home alone
while his owner worked.
He never learnt to play well with other dogs but developed into
a loving, though headstrong poodle with enormous curiosity that
has led him into trouble on occasion with his new family.
|
|
|
Pogo
Pogo the maltese cross was rescued from the pound.
Pogo was very thin and quite sick for the first few weeks
after we picked him up but recovered fully.
He now lives with Susan and her family and has the job of
integrating new foster dogs into the family.
|
|
|
Tammy
TAMMY
is a five-year-old female Tenterfield Terrier who came to us
when her previous family was unable to care for her any longer.
Tammy was a very timid dog who was very anxious for human
companionship and lots of cuddles. She responded well to her
foster carer and came out of herself more and more each day, but
will always be a nervous dog who requires a close relationship
with her carer.
